Lore Lindu National Park is a superb site for good
birding. This National Park is located in the mountains
of Central Sulawesi in the heart of Indonesia. The
park covers mountainous and high lands from 800 up
to 2350 m above sea level and most of Sulawesi's highland
birds are found in this national park.

Heinrich's Nightjar (Lore Lindu)
Around 224 species are resident on mainland
Sulawesi, of which 97 are endemic to Sulawesi sub-region
(Sulawesi plus the satelite ilands of Banggai, .sangihe,
Talaud and the Sula Isles). And 76 endemic birds are
found in this national park, including the Great Shortwing
(Heinrichia calligyna), Geomalia (Geomalia heinrichi),
Heinrich`s Nightjar (Eurostopadus diabolicus), Yellow-flanked
Whistler (Hylocitrea bonensis), and Purple-bearded
Bee-eater (Meropogon forsteni). Besides these important
birds, there are still many other birds to be seen
here, such as the Mangrove Blue Flycatcher (Cyornis
rufigastra), Blue-fronted Flycatcher (Cyornis hoevelli),
Little-pied Flycatcher (Ficedula westermanni), Red-eared
Fruit-dove (Ptilinopus fischeri) and White-bellied
Imperial Pigeon (Ducula forsteni), and many more.
